What do individual piano lessons cover?
Learning piano is about more than finding the right keys. Posture, rhythm, reading music, coordination and musical expression develop together. Your first conversation explores your experience and the music you want to play, so the starting point reflects your needs rather than simply the next page in a book.
Start at the right level
For a complete beginner, exploring the keyboard and hearing short rhythms is a useful first step. If you have played before, a familiar piece can help assess your habits and next goals. Returning students may benefit from refreshing their knowledge and rebuilding a regular practice routine.
Lessons and home practice work together
Break a lesson topic into small tasks throughout the week. You might work separately on a passage’s rhythm, movement and balance of sound. Practice time should suit your goals and everyday life; there is no promise that every student will progress at the same speed.
